The South Central Alabama Broadband Commission (SCABC) is a three (3) year old utility whose purpose is to own and manage
a telecommunications infrastructure that will, through an integrated fiber optic and wireless network, provide
high speed connectivity to every home, business, and governmental agency in the South Central Alabama district.
The SCABC infrastructure will serve the residents and corporate entities of Bullock, Butler, Choctaw, Conecuh, Crenshaw, Dallas, Escambia, Green, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Morengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumpter and Wilcox and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
Officially formed on January 28, 2011, the SCABC will leverage private and public resources to focus on this traditionally
underserved market and leverage a subsequent incremental investment to give its community access to a broader market
through "Next Generation Broadband Technology".
